configure stops for no flex

hi everyone:
    i have just downloaded binutils-2.10.1.tar.gz to install on my sparc-sun-solaris2.6 host,but the configure 
reports to me "./configure :flex :not found " and give up.
What should i do ? must i install flex on my workstation 
first?
