Well, nothing predates CVS, but some of the CVS is inaccessible.

The .90 stuff was actually just started with the 2.10 binutils
release.  After I branced release 2.X, I used to set the version
number in the development sources to 2.X.1.  But that was never a
great idea, since there often was a real 2.X.1, leading to confusion.
