Sorry, my comment was a little half-baked. More than that, I was
confusing OUTPUT_FORMAT with emulation selection via -m.
At some point I'd like to play with some changes to ld that
automatically select the output format on biarch linkers, so that
eg. on powerpc we could do something like
ld -o foo foo.o
and this would "just work" regardless of whether foo.o was elf32
or elf64. One of the things I think we'd need to do is remove
the OUTPUT_FORMAT statement in the default linker script, and I
was concerned that your use of OUTPUT_FORMAT in libc.so would be
yet another place that I'd need to worry about. On looking
closer, I see that it won't be a problem because the output format
will be set by the time libc.so is read.
So go ahead and commit..
