patches from Tensilica

Tensilica has been planning for some time to contribute our binutils port for
Xtensa processors. It has taken a while to get our code updated to work with
the latest binutils version, but I'm getting close now.

Besides the Xtensa-specific changes, I have a number of more general patches
in my tree. I am going to submit some of these now just to help reduce the
number of changes in my tree.

We filed a copyright assignment form for binutils some time ago, so I think we
should be all set on the legal issues.

I don't see anything on the binutils web page about CVS write access. I've
been maintaining the Xtensa port of GCC for about a year, so I'm mostly
familiar with the processes used for GCC. Does the binutils project follow
similar procedures? I'm going to have quite a few patches to submit, both in
the near future to contribute the Xtensa port and on an ongoing basis to
maintain that code, so it would be convenient to have CVS write access.
Please let me know if that is a possibility.

Some initial patches to follow soon....
