uhm, i see.. but there must be something wrong still, because if i
build binutils without applying my patch i get errors when trying
to use them (i can't recall what the errors are right now).

where does ltconfig come from? it isn't in libtool's sources, and
looking at the header it seems like a script written for binutils
using code snippets from libtool.m4
in any case, libtool maintainers just accepted the GNU/FreeBSD changes
in their CVS [1]. please update from there what you find necessary.
