Hi Kate,

I need to build a cross assembler. Build and host platforms is Cygwin. Target platform is
64 bit Linux.

One thing to check is whether you are using text-mounted filesystems or binary-mounted ones. You should be using binary-mounts because otherwise you can have all kinds of strange problems occur.
