Andreas,

if we plan to keep this *old* behavior in longer terms a separate
triplet could be a way for this too. But as this old behavior is more
a failure for this ABI I think a build-option (for binutils and gcc)
is the better way to solve this, as it can be easer deprecated in
future releases.
