Hmm, chasing an old thread from 2006 [*] I think what I'd have to do is:

% ld -shared -o foo.so -F bar.so --defsym=somesym=0x0 ... foo.o

Is that correct?  Have the GNU link-editor and rtld learned how to
handle filters in a Solaris-like fashion since late 2006?
