Guys: On my way to an updated crossgcc faq, I have produced a script that automatically builds an arm-linux or powerpc-linux toolchain FROM SCRATCH, *without* using newlib headers anywhere. I wish to express my appreciation to Phillip Blundell, Kai Rottu and Uli Drepper for motivating me to get this procedure documented and automated. I've tested the script on my RH7.1/x86 box, using gcc-2.95.3, binutils-2.10.1, linux-2.4.3 and glibc-2.2.2. I haven't tested it anywhere else yet, or with any other tool/kernel/glibc versions. I don't yet see any reason why it wouldn't work on Solaris or Cygwin, but I would like to know for sure, and I don't have access to those build platforms right now. The script is at my recently-constructed home page, http://crossgcc.billgatliff.com. I intend to add other build targets soon, including non-Linux ones, but I'll be on vacation all next week so I won't be looking at it. Please post to crossgcc with questions or comments, and I'll catch up when I get back. After downloading the script, just look at the first few lines to see how to use it. It's pretty straightforward, I think--- you feed it tarballs, and it does the rest. Even if you know how to build a crossgcc, please look at and tell me if there's anything I'm doing wrong. I think the procedure is correct, however, both because I finally understand all of it, and because it *doesn't* need newlib. :^) b.g. -- Bill Gatliff bgat@open-widgets.com ------ Want more information?
