which subset of native /usr/include and /usr/lib do I need?

Hi,

I want to build an alpha-dec-osf cross compiler from RH linux. Without
native user header files and library files, this may be too difficult, so
I am trying to get the native /usr/include and /usr/lib from the target
system from somewhere. But /usr/include and /usr/lib are huge, it is not
possible for them to tar ball the whole directories.

Could anyone give me some advice on which subset of the user header files
and libraries files I need to generate a cross compiler?

Thanks a lot!

Tao
