Just curious - what does the spec file (e.g. /usr/lib/gcc-lib/$target/3.4.0/specs) say
in the *cross_compile section?  I heard recently that it might mistakenly have a '1'
there when it should have a '0' in this situation.  That's old info but might still help.

I haven't built a native toolchain using crosstool yet, so I
can't be much help at the moment.
