'e' = 0x65, while '%' = 0x25, so it's just 1 bit fallen over. Therefore, I fear that you have a machine with bad memory. I would advise running memtest for a long time...

Right. Probably some bad ram cells or just the heat around here - 33deg C.

I ran the whole procedure once again and it compiled fine. So I can confirm that applying gcc-3.4.0-arm-nolibfloat.patch patch from 3.4.0 in 3.4.1 solves the problem. I also successfully compiled 2.6 kernel with just compiled gcc-3.4.1-glibc-2.3.2 toolchain.
