Open Source developers generally tend to leaving version numbers well
below 1.0 :-)

The PTXdist patch repository on 

	http://www.pengutronix.de/software/ptxdist/patches-cvs/crosstool-0.28-rc35/generic/

has a patch against crosstool-0.28-rc35 to make i586-unknown-linux-gnu
toolchains compile.

Please consider applying.
