Specs file question....

Is the Specs file for GCC compiled in?

1)When I type m68k-elf-gcc -v it tells me what specs file it is using....

2)When I type m68k-elf-gcc -dumpspecs it dumps the specs file....

3)when I modify the file pointed to by step #1, then step #2 returns the unmodified result.

Is the default specs file compiled in?

If so where in the source tree is it generated?

I want to modify it and then recompile gcc I guess.....
