Re: crosstool OS X host -> i686/linux target ?

Marius Groeger kirjoitti:

Seems puzzling to me that OS X brings such ancient tools. Anyone
knows why this is?

Please use Google and look with "FSF Apple boycott"...

For old beards it is clear that Apple is/has been a bastard in the free software world,
for innocent and ignorant newbies this fact is not clear at all. And then these may even
do non-paid support for Apple's MacOS X... Nobody but Apple itself has had any
motives to support GNU tools for Apple machines. Especially when not being paid
for this job.

Just some questions... How people avoid using Apple's own machines when producing
apps for MacOS X ? By cross-compiling or how? How many have cross-GCCs for
MacOS X hosted on Linux, FreeBSD, OpenBSD and such "free Unices"?

Even MS Windoze is more open in this cross-development issue with its available Cygwin
and MinGW runtime environments.... It is not rare that people have crostools for Cygwin
and MinGW hosted on their preferred development hosts.
