Nobody thinks using the host glibc but the target glibc, which is
already built and tested in those

I think that the idea is the same as expressed in the Finnish author
Pentti Haanpää's short story
"Noitaympyrä" ("The Sorcerer's Circle") about a forest worker who
decides to go to the USSR
in the 1930's and take part in the "creating a better world" there,
people starting from absolute
scratch and not using anything existing from the bad capitalistic
world.... SuSE seems to be one
part of this bad capitalistic world :-) And Gentoo should be too...
If the target system is the Novell's SuSE Linux 9.3/x86_64, these
people don't want to use
anything from it but like to produce their toolchain from absolute
scratch, and finally replacing
the whole target Linux distro with the stuff produced with this
from-scratch made toolchain...
Using any prebuilt Gentoo stuff in a crosstoolchain for Gentoo should be
just as bad sin.
As Jan told, all kind of bad "Bernsteinian socialists" really can start
their "bettering the world"
from the existing situation, to use the existing target glibcs directly
in their crosstools for SuSEs,
Red Hats, Debians, Mandrivas, Gentoos etc. As sad as this sounds, I'm
one of these...
