Binary for armv5t

Hi,
I'm trying to compile a cross-compile toolchain with gcj for an armv5t arch.

The "file" type I am looking for is:
ELF 32-bit LSB executable, ARM, version 1 (SYSV), for GNU/Linux
2.4.17, dynamically linked (uses shared libs), for GNU/Linux
2.4.17, stripped

But, I'm still getting an old "file" type which won't run on my target
armv5t box.

What are the compile flags that I need to set?
I'm using http://kegel.com/crosstool/crosstool-0.43.tar.gz to do achieve this.
I'm currently using gcc 4.1.2 as my host compiler.
I would really appreciate it if someone could give me some pointers on this
Thanks in advance.
Best regards,
Pinto.
