Did you manage to build your toolchain, in the end?

I tried Bernhard's patch on gcc-4.4.2, and it build OK.
The fix still applies to 4.4.3 with a few tweaks, and I'm enclined to use
that for all gcc-4.4.x. What was your experience on gcc-4.3.4?
