What was your experience on gcc-4.3.4? I did manage to build a toolchain with gcc-4.4.3, borrowing the gcc patch from OpenEmbedded. They have the patch for 4.4.1, 4.4.2 and 4.4.3, but not for previous versions. Therefore, I haven't tried to get a patch working for 4.3.x.
