I've looked at it and it seems the only remaining issue is the location of
the man page. And indeed, there's a bug in ./configure : the help text
states that --mandir is the 'topdir' for man pages:
  [...]
    --mandir=DIR            man documentation [PREFIX/share/man]
  [...]

When it fact it is interpreted as "exact place where to drop the man page".

Of course, the help is right, and the current behavior is wrong. Patch? ;-)
