Updated: libxml2-2.6.16-2

Libxml2 has been updated to version 2.6.16-2

NEWS ==== Uses Python 2.4 now.

OLDS ==== There was a bug in the 'xmlcatalog' program in version 2.6.13 of Libxml2, it is strongly recommended to upgrade as soon as possible to libxml2-2.6.16. The Cygwin Libxml2 distribution consists now of four separate packages, the main package 'libxml2' contains the runtime library and the executables 'xmlcatalog' and 'xmllint', the import library and the headers are in the package 'libxml2-devel', the Python bindings and according docs and examples are in the package 'libxml2-python' and the Libxml2 documentation has its own package now: 'libxml2-doc'.

Please read about additional news since the previous Cygwin release
(2.6.13) here: http://www.xmlsoft.org/news.html

DESCRIPTION =========== Libxml2 is the XML C parser and toolkit developed for the Gnome project (but usable outside of the Gnome platform), it is free software available under the MIT License. XML itself is a metalanguage to design markup languages, i.e. text language where semantic and structure are added to the content using extra 'markup' information enclosed between angle brackets. HTML is the most well-known markup language. Though the library is written in C a variety of language bindings make it available in other environments.

UPDATE ====== To update your installation, click on the "Install Cygwin now" link on the http://cygwin.com/ web page. This downloads setup.exe to your system. Save it and run setup, answer the questions and pick up 'libxml2*' from the 'Gnome' category, if you install it for the first time, click on the 'skip' field next to 'libxml2*' until '2.6.16-2' is displayed.

DOWNLOAD: ========= Note that downloads from sources.redhat.com (aka cygwin.com) aren't allowed due to bandwidth limitations. This means that you will need to find a mirror which has this update, please choose the one nearest to you: http://cygwin.com/mirrors.html

QUESTIONS: ========== If you want to make a point or ask a question the Cygwin mailing list is the appropriate place.
