I've done some tests and I can implement my minimum requirement by
changing the directory structure to something like:
repo/release/... (packages directory)
repo/setup_current/setup.ini
repo/setup_2013-01-21/setup.ini
This works for me since I'm rewriting setup.ini anyway and each install
entry now simply gets a "../" prepended. This isn't quite as neat as
simply telling setup.exe where to find an alternative setup.ini, but as
long as you have write access to the repo it gets the job done with
minimum fuzz. I guess if you could put absolute paths into your
setup.ini otherwise, but then you'll have to re-create it again with
relative paths on release. I'm keeping the patch locally since it has
proven useful to me, but for the "official" setup.exe I can use the
above workaround.
