You're waaaaay out on a limb. I've got _no_ idea.

I'd suggest you start with a full working environment with all of cygwin, and then progressively remove packages you think are
irrelevant until it stops working.

Also If you haven't run the cygwin setup.exe to install the bits you ahve installed you are missing the mount points in the registry
and it won't go. No chance no way.
