RE: Can't Open Display - Very Interesting results


Right, and I believe that is entirely normal behaviour... think about it.

When you use xdmcp you are logging in to a remote machine that is going to
control your display.  Your remote machine is not a client, rather, it is a
super-client... it owns the entire X screen.

If you don't want to run all your apps from a remote machine, then don't use
xdmcp.

If you do want to run all your apps from a remote machine, then do use
xdmcp.
