^^^^^^^^^^^^ try to fix your startup script. xfce is trying to boot another
X server session, and remove xscreensaver commands from it.
did you try engine -1?
xwin -screen 0 1024x768x16 -engine 1&
try to leave pixels out. It will use defaults specified in source code
which 255 0.
