Hi!
I got the same error when I expanded the tar files with WinZip. I like WinZip
but WinZip will create DOS style line endings in text files. So fonts.dir in
/fonts/misc cannot be read by xwin. Use tar -xf (with UNIX like line endings)
to install the files.
