I have cygwin and X working on 3 different computers: 1 windows 2000
desktop, 1 windows 2000 laptop, and a windows 95 desktop. The cygwin and
X versions are the same in all 3. The windows 2000 machines have directX
of course, but the windows 95 machine doesn't seem to have it. I am not
saying that directX is necessarily the cause of the problem. It could be
that there was an improper installation at some point. I have not tried
it on a windows 98 machine yet. The only conclusion I can draw at this
point is that there exists still some compatibility issues with the X
server in win9x, but it seems to work fine in windows 2000 and probably
NT 4.0.
