RE: Java Applications


Kevin,

I doubt that anyone here will be able to give you any additional insight.

It sounds to me like the Java runtime environment on your X client machine
(remember that's the remote machine) depends on some extensions that are
present on your NetBSD machine but not in Cygwin/XFree86.  Perhaps the
runtime environment draws the windows, then realises that the extension is
missing, so it gives up; however, instead of closing it loops back to the
start again, thus showing another window.  I'm not saying this is what is
happening, but I've seen some pretty dumb programming in my day, and this
certainly sounds plausible.

On the other hand, it may be that a bug was introduced into XFree86 since
4.1.0 that may have been subsequently corrected in CVS.  You can test that
theory by trying the latest Server Test Series release:
http://xfree86.cygwin.com/devel/shadow/
