broken lndir so cant build tree

first time ive ever downloaded the tree.
ive got winME, and lndir does barf on ".." (read a previous thread, before
subscribing). changing lndir "../../xc" to lndir "~/x-devel/xc" seems to do
a bit
more. however, i still cant build the tree. a tail of the makefile
below. is there a working lndir for winME?
