Found it: winconfig.c

          if (s)

              g_winInfo.xkb.layout = NULL_IF_EMPTY (s);

+         s = NULL;                                                                                
          if (g_cmdline.xkbVariant)

(and some other similar places)

@Harold: I noticed the code in winconfig.c differs from CVS. Is this intention?
The CVS does not contain the bug.
