start_xwin.bat hangs when starting X-Windows

Hi Everybody!

As the subject suggests, start_xwin.bat hangs somewhere when starting X-Windows. I am running start_xwin.bat at WINDOWS and I am trying to query a SUN Solaris machine. The line which invokes the X-Server is:

start /B XWin -query <server> -fullscreen -unixkill -fp tcp/<server>:7100

The log file <cygwin root>/tmp/XWin.log contains the following messages:

----------------------- BEGIN LOG -----------------------------------

XWin was started with the following command line:

Then the process hangs. The cursor is changed to a busy-watch at the entire WINDOWS screen and the process can only be stopped via the WINDOWS task manager. At the time the task manager appears on the screen, the root screen changes to white color, indicating that the X server has taken some control over the display.

The same startup script is working against another target server (also SUN Solaris), which means that the configuration of xfree86 at my PC is O.K.

But, when opening a local X11 root screen (at my PC), I "am" able to establish a ssh session to the remote server, sending xterm's to my local display. So, the only thing which does not seem to work is to get a connection to the UNIX server's X login screen (dtlogin).

Does anybody got an idea of what's going wrong here?

Please, answer also to the email address "uwe.schneider@bhf.ing.com".

Best Regards and thausend thanx in advance!

   Uwe Schneider
