Tunneled? are you using ssh -X or ssh -Y (check FAQ for ssh problems)

Drag and Drop in X should work. Drag and Drop between X and windows
will not work. Maybe multiwindow has problems with drag and drop since
crossing window borders may mess with the mouse button states.
