winScreenInit - Monitors do not all have same pixel format / display depth

This started happening on my Win XP Pro box today. (everything was
working fine last Friday but I have rebooted since then)

I have two monitors, one LCD, one CRT, both have 32 bit pixel depth.

The symptoms are that X windows display properly on the LEFT monitor
but do not refresh/draw on the Right (windows stays blank, white).

It does not seem to matter which is primary.
It does not seem to matter where the task bar is (ie, which monitor)

Curiously enough, it is important which monitor is on the LEFT (ie,
Properties, Settings, if you drag the monitors around, X displays
properly on the monitor which is configured on the LEFT - regardless of
whether it is primary)

I tried updating to the latest ATI Catalyst drivers (which caused me
grief when I tried to rotate the LCD again but I managed to overcome
that one)

the startxwin.bat contains... (with comments removed)

%RUN% XWin -multiplemonitors -multiwindow -clipboard -silent-dup-error

The c:\cygwin\tmp\XWin.log contains...
