umount: /usr/X11R6/lib/X11/fonts: No such file or directory

Hi all,

I've searched through the archive/FAQ/google and I've been stuck for many hours, so any help would be greatly appreciated. So basically this is my situation,

I'm running:
XWin -query <server> -fp tcp/<server> -from <myIP>

I get:
Fatal server error:
could not open default font 'fixed'

As per FAQ, I try:
$ umount /usr/X11R6/lib/X11/fonts

I get:
umount: /usr/X11R6/lib/X11/fonts: No such file or directory

I look into the c:\cygwin\usr\X11R6\lib\X11\fonts\misc directory, there are 414 *.pcf.gz in there. And I've reinstalled numerous times.

So I've been stuck at this error for awhile now.

I've reinstalled numerous times.
My goal is to set up remote graphical access to a server.
Prior to this, I've tried:
X -query <server> -fp tcp/<server>:7100 -once

which gets me:
a grey screen with my pointer in the form of an 'X', which throws a fatal exception error in about 2 minutes:

Fatal server error:
XDMCP fatal error: Session failed Session 1 failed for display 192.168.1.217:0:
Cannot open display

any help would be greatly greatly appreciated. THANKS!
-K
