So I would like to use protocol v2 if a site supports it, but fall
back to v1 if necessary. I would expect this to happen automatically,
but I can't seem to get that behaviour. If I try Protocols 2,1 in
ssh_config, and try to connect to a site which says it's running
protocol version 1.99 (?), OpenSSH_2.3.0p1, the trace then says
"Enabling compatibility mode for protocol 2.0"
and fails to connect.
If I invoke with -1, it succeeds.
Is there no way to get automatic use of 2 where possible, falling back
to 1?
