Hello
I just downloaded the cygwin version linked to from the main homepage. First thing I try to
do is compile and run a simple Hello World program.
When I try to compile gcc says:
gcc: installation problem, cannot exec
`/usr/lib/gcc-lib/i686-pc-cygwin/2.95.3-5/../../../../i686-pc-cygwin/bin/as.exe': Permission
denied
gcc -s works.
running as.exe works too. (Running as.exe on the file gcc -s generates gives me an a.out
that gives some really wierd output, but that's not the point.)
I removed my installation and tried again. Same problem
Downloaded putty source and tried to compile. Same problem.
Is this a big flaw in the package, or is my computer just really wierd?
I have my cygwin installation on a network-mounted drive.
Really. There sould be an #cygwin irc channel somewhere. Might decrease the amout of crap on
this list.
