Since I really did want to do a full anti-virus scan on my laptop, I used
WinZip to backup
the C:\cygwin directory to a zip file on a networked drive, deleted the
C:\cygwin directory
and ran the full scan successfully.
I then restored the C:\cygwin directory with WinZip and ran the full scan
again with no errors!
So that says to me it wasn't the files in the C:\cygwin directory that
caused the problem, but the structure of the C:\cygwin directory.
What part of the directory structure have I "undone" with a WinZip backup
and restore?
For what I use, Cygwin appears to be working correctly so far. Is there a
better tool to use if I need to do this again in the future?
Regards,
Brad
P.S. The anti-virus program was choosen by the company, I'm just trying to
be a good corporate citizen here. This all started when the laptop (which
didn't have F-Secure installed) was "alive in the wild" while I was in
Japan, I thought a good inspection was in order when I returned.
