Here it still breaks on configure, but this time in winsup/w32api. It 
tries to feed the configure script: 
'--with-target-subdir=i686-pc-cygwin' but it doesn't recognize option 
target-subdir: 'invalid package name: target-subdir'.

Can you extract from your build log how it invokes configure in the 
winsup/w32api directory for you?
