calling octave from C

Slowly working my way back to gcc after using R for
many years......working on Windows xp.......

Can I call octave routines from inside a C program ?
I noticed that octave has a multivariate normal
routine and I am too lazy to write my own. Can I
somehow call the octave routine and will decrease
program speed ?

Any code fragments showing how to do this would be
most appreciated.

Thanks!

Benn
