Btw., if you want to be really sure that pthread_getattr_np recovers from an uninitialized or invalid pthread_attr_t argument, just initialize it like this: pthread_attr_t attr = { 42 }; This gives a compile time warning, but it makes sure that the internal validity check SEGVs and the exception handling kicks in.
