"svn diff -c ." is not a valid command. The "-c" switch expects a
numeric argument. I get an error message when I try it, not a segfault.

Does this recipe work for you?

% mkdir /tmp/svn
% cd /tmp/svn
% svnadmin create repos
% r=file:///tmp/svn/repos
% svn co $r work
Checked out revision 0.
% cd work
% date > file
% svn add file
A file
% svn commit -m 1
Adding file
Transmitting file data .done

Committed revision 1.
% date > file
% svn diff -c .

% svn diff -c 1
