RE: DOCBOOK-APPS: Fwd: French error message

I've gotten this message, too.  I found (using Emacs) what seemed to be the
area of problem.  I don't remember the exact string, but it looked roughly
like this:

	a\200\202

In my case, that character was supposed to be an ”, I believe, and I
just chased it down and replaced it.  I was also using Saxon, and I'm
beginning to wonder if I should have been using the Xerces parser.
(Unfortunately, I'm not sure that Instant Saxon supports changing the
parser.)

I hope that was somewhat helpful at least.

While the example is using a custom XSLT stylesheet, I have tried it with
just the standard DocBook stylesheets.  What would I look for with a 
"bad continuation of multi-byte UTF-8 sequence"?

FYI, the file starts off with:

  <!DOCTYPE book PUBLIC "-//OASIS//DTD DocBook XML V4.1.2//EN"

Should I be using a different encoding string?  The text is in French
(Canadian) and the person doing this is using Instant Saxon on Windows.
I haven't been able to try the files on a different setup for a number
of reasons.

Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.
