[docbook-apps] docbook2pdf toolchain breaks in Debian

G'day,

I am experiencing some odd, Debian-specific behaviour in the docbook2pdf
toolchain.

I have managed to reproduce the error below on both pure Testing and
Unstable implementations of Debian. Of the two documents I am currently
working on, this error occurs only with the more complex document,
which contains docbook tables. (relevance: unknown)

The only clue I have so far is that this error does NOT occur under
Libranet! So what does Libranet do with (presumably fonts) that makes
this work?

Unfortunately, I need to run my docbook2pdf conversions on a dedicated
Debian server, and it has been decided that Libranet may not be used for
this purpose.

The error below appears repeated ad nauseum:

	LaTeX Font Warning: Font shape
	`\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\
	\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\
	\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\
	\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\OT1/cmr/m/n' @undefined
	(Font) using
	`\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\
	\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\
	\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\
\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\OT1/cmr/m/n' instead on input line 2.

Help!

Jens
