I think this is a bug. Can you clarify where you are seeing it? When I
test this with 1.68.1, the title in the table instance is correct, but the
title in the List of Tables at the front of the book has the entire
biblioentry in it, which is wrong. So I think it is a bug in the mode="toc"
template.
