rendering to PDF and PS

Hi all.
I posted this problem to the dsssl list and was told that it was probably a jadetex table problem.
From that, and that jade came with the docbook tools I asume this is the correct place to ask it again.
When I render to PDF or PS the revision details get rendered without spaces
(even if I put spaces inside the tags).
<revnumber>1.0</revnumber><date>5 November 1999</date>
becomes
Revision 1.05 November 1999
