Why not use $Log: $ ?  Too ugly?

What would be really cute would be to hook into CVS, compare two
versions, and take that 'cvs diff' output, and attach automatic
'revision=new' attributes (or some such, don't know the proper way)
into an autogenerated modification of the up-to-date source, and then
format that with change bars.  For extra credit, compare the two SGML
or XML versions as ESIS streams first, effectively normalizing them.

Seems like a lot of work!
