Yes and no. :-)

I understood what's happening with the entities. And I understood why
you've used them. 

What I was talking about is the amount of entities that we'll need to
create to easy things for authors. There are thousands of man pages. 

There should be an easy way to achieve the same thing... As an
example:

<man section="1">mail</man>

(which could be <citerefentry section="1">mail</citerefentry> as well) 

This is a very common thing on Unix. It's so common that it could have
it's own tag or some customization to make things look like they're
usually shown to users.

The above example would output mail(1) and would eliminate all this
code and the need for the entities as well.
