Hi Max,
I am still far from being an expert at eCos but if you benefit from my
little experience, here is what I did:
Instead of using Windows I use Linux Red Hat version 7.3 which can be
downloaded free from the Net. If you follow my steps, I suggest you install
the server version. Then I followed the instruction on the eCos page for
installation under Linux. I currently use 2.9.5 for the compiler, 2.10.1 for
the utilities and 5.2.1 for insight. Follow the instruction on that page :
http://sources.redhat.com/ecos/tools/linux-powerpc-eabi.html
As for eCos, the easiest way is to download the latest version using the
address located in the anonymous section of the eCos page:
http://sources.redhat.com/ecos/anoncvs.html; Just click on "complete
snapshot" from the link created by David Airlie. This snapshot is updated
every day and contains the latest eCos available. To use this snapshots, you
uncompress it into a directory on your linux machine and simply make the
ECOS_DIRECTORY variable point to it.
I know many people use Windows. However I was unsuccessful with windows
and I found the Linux way easier. If you insist on using windows, I know you
need to download the latest ecosconfig software with also located onto David
Airlie ftp site. As for the snapshot, I think you will need to use a cvs
server which I am not to familiar with.
Hope this helped a bit
Pascal
