My guess is that something like Lua would be easier to port. I have a
functioning Forth port (see my free software page), but maybe you
don't consider that an improvement over C (or assembler:-). IIRC,
Python considers 'files' one of the built-in types - something that it
doesn't want to do without, whereas Ecos can happily be built without
them.
