Re: Ethernet chips

I have found the second chip.
Maybe it's the one Laurent was talking about - Davicom, DM9000.

It's not supported by eCos so far, but well...

I have selected the SMSC device for the project.
Now I'm waiting for it to be delivered.

I hope enabling SMSC driver to work on EB40A will not cause any major problems.

Thanks for the suggestion, QiangHuang, but I don't need an FPGA here, and using external FLASH and RAM would be required in this design. It does not eliminate the need for external ethernet MAC as well (it only includes it on the evaluation board).

It's just easier to use Atmel ARM AT91FR40162 which has enough FLASH and enough RAM for the project. It doesn't have ethernet controller, it doesn't have I2C built-it and it doesn't have low power Real Time Clock with external 32 kHz clock. It doesn't have some analog elements which as far as I know aren't integrated with any chip.

So I'll have to use some chips together with microcontroller but it's ok, because I know all of those (excluding LAN91C111, but it has driver already available) so I'm not expecting any major problems.
